Friday, April 6

Today students participated in Operation Amputation, which allowed them to view the parts of a joint from a real organism. They divided the class into 2 sections; one section used the surgical techniques of a Civil War surgeon, the other section used the techniques of modern day surgeons. They took swabs of their tools at the end, to culture any bacteria that might be present on their tools, so we can compare them and see how modern medicine has reduced the incidence of infection.
